Cortona On the Move - Dal 17 luglio al 28 settembre, Cortona.

ENGLISH VERSION

Having reached its forth edition, Cortona on the Move has earned a place of honour amongst the most anticipated photography festivals in Italy and Europe.

Similarly to its previous editions, the festival’s strongpoints reside in the high quality and variety of the images on display, in combination with showings, workshops and portfolio readings  by the most renowned international photo-editors.

It will also provide a chance to see projects that have been in the limelight this past year - they will be displayed in Cortona until September: “Rob Hornstra’s “The Sochi Project”, “Arrivals and departures” by Jacob Aue Sohol,  “Portraits of America” by William Albert Allard - plus photos by Anastasia Taylor-Lind, Terraproject, and Alessandro Penso’s  “European Dream, Road to Bruxelles”, a co-production by On the Move and the UNHCR.
In addition, there are the exhibitions of the Off circuit - five authors have been selected amongst over 500 entries -, the On the Move International Prize (awarded this year to Carla Kogelman) and “Goin’ Mobile”, a selection of smartphone-shot images curated by Kathy Ryan and Scott Thode, featuring photos by Alec Soth and Ben Lowy (amongst many others).

Also, it should be reminded that this is the third edition directed by Arianna Rinaldo. Thus far, she has managed to provide the festival with a highly dynamic and international imprint by holding tight to the theme of travel - propelling engine and identity of the festival.

Therefore it is really an articulated path of images embodying different places, themes and styles. They are shaped up in an event that cannot be renounced by the mass audience either - and that has come to characterise the cultural scenario of the hosting location.

Cortona on the Move - from 17th July to 28th September, Cortona.
